Benchmark Electronics Inc. said fourth quarter revenue will exceed its previous estimate as the contract manufacturer continued to recover from the global economic downturn that hit the electronics industry late in 2008.
Sales for the December-quarter will exceed the upper end of the $520 million to $560 million range provided by Benchmark on October 27, 2009, the Angleton, Texas-based company said in a statement. Analysts were on the average expecting the company to report sales of $543.3 million for the last quarter of 2009.
Benchmark said earnings per share before charges in the recently ended quarter will be between 22 cents and 26 cents, according to Benchmark.
In the year-ago comparable quarter, Benchmark reported sales of $582 million. Benchmark's annual revenue fell to $2.6 billion in 2008 after rising to $2.9 billion in 2007. Analysts estimate 2009 sales will be approximately $2 billion.
